CSM Don E. Wells entered the United States Army in September 1974 at Fort Dix, New Jersey where he completed basic combat training. CSM Wells attended advanced individual training as a (92A) Automated Logistics Specialist at Fort Lee Virginia.
Command Sergeant Major Wells has served in a variety of duty positions including Unit Armorer, Platoon Sergeant, Supply Sergeant, S-4 NCOIC, Senior Instructor/Writer, NCOIC for Criminal Investigation Department Logistical Division, NCOIC of Water Regiment in Saudi Arabia, First Sergeant, NCO for Support Operation Directorate, and Sergeant Major for the Army National Guard Logistical, Battalion Sergeant Major, and Brigade Sergeant Major and Commandant NCO Academy.

CSM Wells is currently serving as the Interim Quartermaster Regimental Command Sergeant Major as well as the Commandant of the Quartermaster NCO Academy Fort Lee, Virginia. As Regimental Sergeant Major and NCOA Commandant, CSM Wells worked tirelessly to promote standards of excellence in enlisted training and laid a solid foundation for growth and development for the Quartermaster Corps. His awards and decorations include: the Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), the Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (5 OLC), the Good Conduct Medal (Seven Awards), the Southwest Asia Service Medal, and the Noncommissioned Officer Development Ribbon (#4). Command Sergeant Wells has a degree in Liberal Arts from City of Chicago College. His military education includes Sergeants Major Academy, Class 41, 1996; Standard Property Book System, 1995. Senior Supply Sergeant Course, April 1986; Noncommissioned Officers Logistics Course, 1984; and Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, 1983.
