TWI Overview
The Training with Industry (TWI) Program is a work-experience program that provides extensive exposure to managerial techniques and industrial procedures within corporate America to competitively selected Noncommissioned Officers. Training received is normally not available through either civilian or military school systems. Eligible personnel are normally contacted via email from Human Resources Command or their Personnel Development Office representative. The eligible person may then submit an application for consideration to HRC. Once selected, the Personnel Development Office will forward the approved application to HRC for assignment processing.
The application window for Fiscal Year 2026 will open on 1 May 2025 and will close 1 August 2025. The board will convene, and selectees will be announced in September 2025. Selectees will report to industry in August 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be an active duty SSG-SFC.
- Must have completed the appropriate Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development School (NCOPDS) for your grade.
- Must have a minimum of 5 years and no more than 15 years of active Army service as of 30 September of the competition fiscal year. Applicants must have sufficient enlistment remaining equal to or greater than three times the length of requested schooling. Service remaining requirements are prescribed in AR 614-200. Also able to serve 1yr at industry and 36 months at utilization total 48 months.
- Must possess a Secret security clearance.
- A review of the candidate's CMF must reflect potential for future, long term service, as determined by HRC.
- Candidate must express specific interest in training by submitting a formal application.
- Must be qualified for promotion or recently promoted, ensuring TWI participation will not place them at risk for promotion to the next rank.
- Must meet or exceed the academic requirements determined by the industry for each fiscal year of competition.
- Must meet height/weight requirements in accordance with AR 600-9.
- There are no prior service requirements for this program.
- Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) documents must be updated prior to packet submission.
Application Packet
- Soldier Training Profile (STP)
- Security clearance memorandum from S-2
- Copy of last five years of evaluation reports
- College transcripts, if applicable
- Most current DA Form 705 (Army Combat Fitness Test Score Card) and DA Form 5500/5501 (Body Fat Content Worksheet), if applicable.

- One Letter of Recommendation (LOR) from the first O-5 in chain of command, written in either letter or memorandum format IAW AR 25-50 addressed to the President of the Selection Panel. See Documents section and Example Forms.
- Written statement for Married Army Couples Program participants waiving joint domicile program.
- Candidates with a 92L background must have the MOS listed under Secondary MOS (SMOS) on the STP and include the 92L Certificate of Training in their packet.
