Chief Warrant Officer Five Maria G. Martinez was born in the Municipality of Zaragoza, Coahuila, Mexico, and raised in Texas. She enlisted in the Army in 1988 as an Automated Logistics Specialist. Later, she was selected to become a Quartermaster Warrant Officer and graduated from the Warrant Officer Basic Course in 1995 as a Supply Systems Technician.
As a Warrant Officer, she was assigned to the 555th Maintenance Company, Fort Polk, LA, and served as the Accountable Officer and Platoon Leader for a Patriot Supply Support Activity (SSA). As part of Base Realignment and Closure, her unit moved from Fort Polk to Fort Bliss, TX. While at Ft Bliss, she completed two deployments to Saudi Arabia as the Task Force Accountable Officer.
In 1999 CW5 Martinez was assigned as the Class IX Aviation Accountable Officer for the 123rd Aviation Detachment, Fort Wainwright, AK. During her time there, her SSA and team were recipients of the Supply Excellence Award from 2000 to 2002. She also served as the Vice President of the Top of the World Warrant Officer Association.
From 2002-2009, she was assigned to the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Hood, TX. There, she completed two combat tours to Iraq as both the Multi-National Division North SARSS-2AD OIC and the Multi-National Division Baghdad G4 SR Supply Systems Technician. She also completed a tour in Egypt as the Task Force Property Book Officer. In Garrison, she served in various positions including budget OIC, S4 OIC, SASMO, General Supply Officer, and as the 4ID G4 SR Technician.
In 2009, CW5 Martinez served as the RIC-GEO Materiel Manager within the Army Sustainment Command Distribution Management Center at Rock Island, IL. In 2010, CW5 Martinez was assigned to the 8th Theater Sustainment Command as the Command Supply Systems Technician responsible for the management of 25 SSAs across the Pacific Rim (Alaska, Japan, Korea, and Hawaii).
Since 2015, she was assigned to Forces Command G4, responsible for Policy and Procedures as well as management of 60 SSAs valued at 605 Million dollars. She also assisted with the successful migration of Global Combat Support System-Army, Wave Two, (PBO, Maintenance, and Supply Rooms) for over 166 Units.
Her military schools include every level of the Warrant Officer Education system, as well as numerous Army and Joint Logistics courses. She has also earned a Bachelor of Liberal Arts from Excelsior University.
Her awards include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star (2 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (4 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (3 OLC), Meritorious Unit Citation, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal (2 BS), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal (1 CS), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (2), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon (5), the Multinational Forces and Observers Medal, and Distinguished Order of Saint Martin.
